A young person’s time in middle school can be some of the most exciting and dynamic years in their life. Through this character-shaping time, we provide an academic curriculum complemented by faith formation and our pastoral care program.
Specialised middle years staff support our students in their journey to adulthood as they navigate and explore the changes and challenges signature to this age.
Building on the foundations of primary school, middle school students continue to engage in the core curriculum and are provided additional opportunities to engage in specialist subjects.
Excellent facilities at the Flinders Park Campus well support middle years’ learning. Here we provide a safe, encouraging environment based on respect and positive relationships.
VIEW OUR MIDDLE YEARS (7-9) CURRICULUM
The Year 7 curriculum is delivered by dedicated key teachers who offer a sense of continuity and familiarity whilst students utilise various learning environments and specialised facilities.
Students study a selection of compulsory subjects from the Australian Curriculum, together with a range of Elective Subjects. Compulsory subjects are Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Health & Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Languages (Japanese or Italian). Students will study each of the following elective subjects for a term to develop skills and inform their future choices; Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Cook & Create, Digital Competencies, Digital Technology and Design & Technology.
Students follow a weekly timetable comprising both single and double lessons, with designated time allocated for Mentor Group sessions. Each student is assigned to a ‘neighbourhood’, comprising four classes overseen by a team of closely acquainted teachers. These educators teach multiple classes within the ‘neighbourhood’, which operates from a central home classroom. This structure facilitates a smooth transition into Middle School.
